What the free vocal analyzer measures
Drop in a vocal - a bounce from your session, or a phone recording - and it's compared, in your browser, against measurements taken from 3,054 Billboard hits from 1990 to 2025. Nothing is uploaded to a server. You get:
- EQ balance - your vocal's frequency curve against the curve hit vocals share in your genre, with the bands to cut or boost.
- Dynamics - how compressed your vocal is against the window hits sit in, and compressor settings to get there.
- Vocal level - the loudness your vocal should sit at against the instrumental for your genre, and a grade if you add the instrumental.
- Recording problems - clipping, room reflections, hum, plosives and gain staging, flagged only when they're actually there.
Vocal analyzer FAQ
Is the vocal analyzer really free?
Yes. Analyze as many vocals as you like without an account. A free account is only needed to save your history, unlock the matched presets, and see your progress over time.
What file should I upload?
Any audio file works - MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A (voice memos), FLAC. A solo vocal gives the cleanest read. If it's still in a session, bounce the vocal bus with its effects. Up to six minutes are analyzed.
What is the score compared against?
The isolated vocals of 3,054 Billboard hits, measured the same way your file is: frequency balance, gated crest factor for dynamics, and vocal-versus-instrumental loudness while the vocal is singing. Picking your genre compares you against that genre's hits instead of the whole set.
Does it analyze pitch?
Not yet. It measures the mix and recording of the vocal - EQ, dynamics, level and recording quality - not tuning. Pitch is planned.
